The TAP group has been losing workers and will continue to lose until the end of this year. The information was advanced today by the Government.

“In the group as a whole, 1200 [trabalhadores] and 1,600 are expected to leave before the end of the year [trabalhadores]”, Said today the Minister of Infrastructure, Pedro Nuno Santos, in Parliament, without specifying the types of labor contracts of these workers, or in which company of the group they were developed.

“TAP is trading 30% lower, it will go up,” he said. But currently “there is no market, there is no demand, there are no customers,” noting that “other airlines have these values.”

“The best way to offer jobs is to have a sustainable airline. And that is the work that is being done at the moment, ”he said about the restructuring plan that he is preparing to deliver to the European Commission. “We cannot anticipate the conclusions of a job that is still being done.”

Currently, the minister is being heard in the parliamentary committee on economy, innovation, public works and housing.

  • News corrected at 8:19 pm: 1,600 TAP workers will leave before the end of the year. So far 1,200 workers have left and 400 more will leave by the end of 2020.
