This is one of the 12 drones that the Air Force acquired for 4.5 million euros for forest surveillance, however, most of the devices are inoperable due to technical difficulties.

A Portuguese Air Force drone, operated from Air Base 11, in Beja, fell, this Thursday, on an agricultural property near Odivelas, in the municipality of Ferreira do Alentejo, said Jornal de Notícias. The fall did not cause material damage or casualties.

The alert was recorded at 3:26 pm. At the site were 18 operatives from the Ferreira do Alentejo and Alvito firefighters and the GNR, supported by seven vehicles, who removed the drone from the scene.

This is the second VTOL (Unmanned Vertical Take-off and Landing Plane) device to drop within a month and a half. The fall of the same type of device, on September 3, at the Trigo de Morais dam, in the parish of Torrão, in the municipality of Alcácer do Sal, caused the suspension of drone operations until September 10.
