Covid-19 in Portugal. Number of patients hospitalized and in intensive care for more than five months | Coronavirus

The Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and Norte regions concentrate most of the new cases identified this Tuesday in Portugal: 87% of the 1208 confirmed cases of infection. In the North alone, 713 new cases were identified, more than half (59%) of the new infections registered in Portugal. It is the second highest number of new cases in this region; the highest was recorded last Saturday.

16 people died with covid-19 in the last 24 hours in Portugal, the highest number of deaths since May 20. And, although the number of new cases is higher in the north, it is in the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo where most of the new deaths were concentrated: ten. In the North there were five and in the Center, one.

916 people are hospitalized (39 more than the previous day), the highest number since April 30. Of these, 132 are in intensive care units (four more than the day before), the highest number since May 7.

Outside the northern region, 340 new cases were identified in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 94 new infections in the center, 32 in Alentejo, 24 in the Algarve, three in Madeira and two in the Azores.

In global terms, 2,110 deaths and 89,121 infections have been registered since the beginning of the pandemic, according to data from the General Health Directorate.

549 more people were recovered in the last 24 hours, for a total of 54,047 recovered. There are currently 32,964 active cases (643 more than Monday), after subtracting the number of recoveries and deaths from the total infections.
