The Judicial Police (PJ) made dozens of arrests this Tuesday morning in a mega-operation to combat arms trafficking in the north of the country, which it called “Operation Iberia” and carried out within the scope of an investigation under the tutelage of the Department of Investigation and Action. (DIAP) of Porto.

A TVI knows that the epicenter of the scheme is in the Vila Real area – and there are more than 300 PJ inspectors involved in the search and arrest of suspects, including gunsmiths, linked to the illegal market for the processing and sale of undocumented firearms, many of which end up being used in violent crimes such as robbery and homicide.

According to TVI found, PJ’s searches pointed to PSP in Chaves, Montalegre, Vila Real, Mirandela, Guimarães, Tarouca and Viana do Castelo. There are dozens of seized weapons, including G3 and firearms.

In house and non-house searches, the Judicial Police have the collaboration of the Republican National Guard (GNR) and the Public Security Police (PSP).
