SIC News | Portugal registers 14 deaths and 1,249 new cases of covid-19 in the last 24 hours

This Monday Portugal counts another 14 deaths related to covid-19 and 1,249 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has already registered 2,094 deaths and 87,913 cases of contagion, with 32,321 active cases this Monday, 924 more than on Sunday.

Regarding hospital admissions, the bulletin reveals that 877 people are hospitalized (34 more than in the last 24 hours), of which 128 are in intensive care (4 more compared to Sunday).

The number of people recovered amounts to 53,498 (311 more than in the last 24 hours).

Portugal has the worst week since the start of the pandemic

The number of new people infected by the coronavirus in Portugal last week reached the highest level since the start of the pandemic, with 7,513 new cases registered.

Number that exceeds in more than two thousand cases the value registered in the second worst week of the pandemic, that was in april.

THE NUMBERS OF THE LAST WEEK

On Monday the country had 734 new cases. On Tuesday the value dropped to 427, in the room 944 and from then until Sunday they have always been registered more than 1000 cases per day.

Saturday was the worst day of the pandemic, with a record number of new cases, 1,646.

The prime minister and members of the government tested negative on Sunday

The prime minister’s office reported Monday morning that António Costa and all members of the government examined in the covid-19 on Sunday night by the Ricardo Jorge National Institute of Health had a negative result.
