The lowest pensions will have an extraordinary increase of 10 euros or 6 euros from August of next year. The measure is foreseen in the preliminary version of the State Budget for 2021 (OE2021), to which Jornal Economico had access.
“The extraordinary update is made for the amount of ten euros per pensioner, whose overall pension amount is equal to or less than 1.5 times the value of the social aid index (IAS), or six euros to pensioners who receive at least a pension whose fixed amount has been updated in the period between 2011 and 2015 ”, says the bill.
In other words, pensions below 1.5 IAS will have an extraordinary increase following the trend of recent years. “The value of the periodic annual update, carried out in January 2021, is incorporated into the value of the extraordinary update foreseen in the previous number”, explains the OE proposal, which indicates that the disability, old-age and survivor pensions assigned will be covered by the planned update for social security and retirement, retirement and survival pensions of the convergent social protection scheme, attributed by CGA, IP
This was one of the main demands of the left, in a measure that has been agreed in previous budgets. However, the PCP and the Left Bloc wanted the measure to come into force already in January and not just in August.
