Braga-based jewelry brand Wonther has brought back the tradition of the ancient medallions that were worn on the chest with a photograph of your loved ones, giving you a new ‘twist’.

In a statement sent to O MINHO, the Braga brand showcases the new Locket Good Vibes, inspired by ‘Grandma’s medallions’, but with gemstones instead of traditional photography.

Produced in recycled material, like all Wonther pieces, it has the international seal of certification of ethics and sustainability, thus launching a new collection launched with three designs: rose quartz, malachite and lapis lazuli.

“There is a clear trend in the desire to return to our roots, associated with the search for a better quality of life. This collection is a reflection of that search, where we collect and value other elements of nature: commonly known as crystals “, explains the founder of the brand, Olga Kassian, a Ukrainian national but living in Braga since she was a child.

“This collection was created to remind us that we have to empathize with ourselves and that the pursuit of individual well-being is something we must take very seriously, especially in the times we live in,” adds Olga Kassian.

Olga Kassian, founder of Wonther, came from Ukraine to Braga with her parents at the age of four. At the age of 22, the creator acknowledges that the brand she founded “has already received international recognition for its ethical and sustainability policy in the sector.”

Launched on November 5, 2019, the jewelry brand was founded by Olga after working in New York when she was 19 years old, serving a pop-up store of the Josefinas footwear brand, also based in Braga.

With pieces between 35 and 308 euros, Olga Kassian’s goal is to give “feelings and emotions”, remembering that jewelry is not just accessories.

“Throughout my life I have always had a very strong relationship with what are the rights of women and I believe that jewelry can convey emotions and precious meanings,” she told the magazine. MAGG, in November last year.

In August 2020, in an interview with the newspaper ObserverOlga clarifies that the headquarters are in Braga and that sales are made “mainly online”, although it has a physical store in Brooklyn, New York. The United States and also London, in the United Kingdom, are the brand’s main sales markets.

Wonther recently launched a campaign challenging citizens to sell silver items that they no longer use, in order to recycle that material for new pieces of jewelry.
