Luís Filipe Vieira launched this Thursday the electoral manifesto where he launches the guidelines for the next term as president of Benfica, if he is elected on October 30. Leader of the club since 2003, Vieira evokes the work done, but also what remains to be done to launch the club as “the most successful sports organization in Portugal, both in football and in modalities, and both from a competitive perspective and from an economic point of view. ».
“Being a politician or a coach is not enough to manage Benfica. Benfica needs a great leader, with a high entrepreneurial capacity, ”reads Vieira’s manifesto, which also points to the other candidates for the club’s presidency.
“On the one hand, there will be a group of candidates with a lot of criticism and few ideas for the future, and on the other, a president with a job done and new projects for the next four years. (…) But Benfica fans shouldn’t elect a president just because of his past and his ideas. What is at stake is who is in a position to guarantee a stronger, more modern, more ambitious, more eclectic, more European and more international Benfica ”.
In addition to Luís Filipe Vieira, four other candidates are running for the Benfica presidency: João Noronha Lopes, Rui Gomes da Silva, Francisco Benítez and Bruno Costa Carvalho.
