Portugal registers 944 more cases and eight deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 81,256 confirmed cases of Covid-19, plus 944 compared to the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Health Directorate (DGS) published this Wednesday, October 7. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country has risen to 2,040, with eight deaths in the last 24 hours.

The DGS reveals that there are currently 29,469 cases registered in the North (more than 356), 6,561 in the Center (more than 58), 41,225 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (more than 494), 1,862 in the Algarve (more than 21), 287 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (one more), 257 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (six more) and 1,595 cases in Alentejo (eight more).

Currently, there are 764 hospitalized patients, of which 104 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 51,037 cases recovered in Portugal, 325 more than those registered yesterday. Regarding deaths, of the total of 2,040 deaths, 900 are registered in the North, 269 in the Center, 811 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, 20 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores, 25 in the Alentejo. There is no death from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 36,885 men and 44,371 women infected with the new coronavirus. In terms of deaths, 1,023 men and 1,017 women were counted. 46,023 people are under surveillance, 414 fewer than yesterday. There are still 28,179 active cases, 611 more than the one seen yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is between 30 and 39 years, with 6,273 men and 7,029 women, in a total of 13,302 cases. The highest number of deaths is recorded over 80 years, with 599 men and 767 women, out of a total of 1,366 deaths.
