The Judicial Police (PJ) did not try to open some encrypted files that were on Rui Pinto’s unlocked disk – identified as RP3 – due to the large “workload” in the investigation, specialist José São Bento admitted today.

In the hearing this morning, in the ninth session of the trial, in the Central Criminal Court of Lisbon, abbreviated by an initial failure in the electronic system and by quick testimony, the specialist of the Judicial Power who was dedicated to the analysis of this The hard drive revealed that, apprehended without encryption, it contained some files that were not freely accessible and that the PJ did not take the initiative to open them, even after the collaboration with the accused began.

“With the amount of work we had, we didn’t even try to open them. We do not know it yet [o que tinham]. There were some scattered files, not many and we did not take them into account, ”emphasized José São Bento.

Asked by Rui Pinto’s defense regarding the original location of the computer, from which the copy was made to the RP3 disk, the expert acknowledged that “it is not possible to verify” the location.

The issue was insisted on by the panel of judges, who wanted to see if it was feasible to accurately determine the geolocation of the devices, but the PJ specialist only explained that it was possible to be in Budapest, as in any other place.

The trial of the Football Leaks case continues this afternoon with the hearing of another specialist from the Judicial Police, Afonso Rodrigues.

Rui Pinto, 31, is responsible for a total of 90 crimes: 68 of improper access, 14 of violation of correspondence, six of illegitimate access, directed at entities such as Sporting, Doyen, PLMJ law firm, Portuguese Football Federation ( FPF) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), and also for computer sabotage of the Sporting SAD and for extortion, in the form of intent.

This last crime concerns Doyen and was also the one that motivated the pronunciation of the lawyer Aníbal Pinto.

The creator of Football Leaks has been free since August 7, “for his collaboration” with the Judicial Police (PJ) and his “critical sense”, but is, for security reasons, inserted in the witness protection program in a place undisclosed and under police protection.
