A 45-year-old PSP agent from Braga is being investigated for domestic violence against his ex-wife and their eldest son, now 12, advances the Morning Mail (CM). The assaults are said to have taken place mainly at the couple’s home in Barcelos.

According to the CM, the first complaint was made at the end of 2019, after the PSP agent allegedly beat the woman in front of the two children. At the same time, the eldest son, then 11 years old, was allegedly beaten with a leather belt for trying to prevent the mother from being beaten. The couple’s youngest daughter, 7, saw it all.

The couple divorced this year, but the violence will not have stopped. The police officer even lured the woman to a deserted place to talk and ended up assaulting her. According to the complaint, on another occasion, when the divorce process was already underway, the PSP, who was prevented from visiting their children without supervision, showed up at the family home dressed in hunting clothes. She demanded to see the children, who were in a panic.

At least three complaints have been formalized, which are being investigated by the Barcelos Public Ministry.

Still according to the CM, the child was listened to for future memory and reported the various episodes of violence that he witnessed to the judge who had the case.

Despite the ongoing disciplinary process, opened by the General Inspectorate of Internal Administration, the PSP agent in Braga continues to provide services, providing only administrative service.

The Barcelos Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth has an ongoing investigation within the same process. The minors were heard and confirmed the violence.

The man, hunter, as part of the process, surrendered all registered hunting weapons.
