The president of the United States announced today that his test for COVID-19 was positive, as was that of his wife, Melania Trump.
The confirmation came after Donald Trump took the test, after a close associate confirmed he was infected.
With the test that came back positive for Covid-19, the president of the United States joins a growing list of world leaders who have already been infected with the disease.
One of the first cases, and more media, that was known was that of Boris Johnson, when the British Prime Minister announced having Covid-19 in April. First, Johnson was only quarantined with mild symptoms after undergoing routine checks.
However, due to the worsening of his symptoms, the Prime Minister had to be hospitalized in the intensive care and despite needing oxygen, he has not been ventilated. Johnson survived Covid-19 and seems to have fully recovered, after thanking the British national health system and, in particular, two nurses who accompanied him, one of them. Portuguese – because they saved his life.
Another of the best-known contagion cases by a world leader was that of Jair Bolsonaro, July 7. The 65-year-old Brazilian president has always shown skepticism about the danger of the disease, which he compared to a “little grip”, having frequently appeared at public events without a mask and animating social gatherings.

Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández also tested positive for COVID-19 in June, after being hospitalized. Alejandro Giammattei, president of Guatemala, revealed that he was infected in September, having completed the isolation at home, as did Jeanine Anez (interim president of Bolivia) and Luis Abinader, president of the Dominican Republic.
