The Algarve has 14 health professionals infected with Covid-19, in the hospitals of Faro, Portimão and in a private entity, revealed this Thursday, October 1, Paulo Morgado, president of the Regional Health Administration.

At a press conference, this official assured that “the largest outbreak” is related to the Faro Hospital, where there are seven infected and 33 professionals in prophylactic isolation.

“However, there was no service to close and they continue to operate normally, both in Faro and in Portimão,” he explained.

According to Paulo Morgado, the outbreak at the Faro Hospital is related to the one at the Beja Hospital, since there is an infected professional who works in both units.

From the point of view of testing capacity, the president of ARS / Algarve said that this week “equipment will be installed that will allow us to considerably increase our testing capacity and overcome the barrier of 1000 daily tests next week”.

Regarding influenza vaccination, it has already begun, aimed, at this first moment, at “professionals and residents of homes and in the integrated network of continuous care.”
