Benfica and Tottenham reached an agreement in principle for the loan of Carlos Vinícius. The transfer is due to close this morning: the loan type and the purchase option clause have not yet been settled, which is set at 45 million euros.

Carlos Vinícius is very close to leaving Benfica and moving to Tottenham, after the negotiations between the clubs advanced decisively yesterday afternoon. The Brazilian striker, the best scorer of the last season in the championship, with 19 goals, and, therefore, winner of A BOLA de Prata, ran out of space at Benfica, after the signing of Darwin Núñez.

Jorge Jesús understands that Carlos Vinícius does not have the right profile for the team’s style of play and, therefore, he gave up. In the Reds’ first three games, the 25-year-old Brazilian has only been on the pitch twice, always as a substitute.

In London, by contrast, José Mourinho was desperate for a forward, considering he only has Harry Kane for that position. Carlos Vinícius, from Benfica’s perspective, will now have the opportunity to appreciate himself in the Premier League. The purchase option clause, as said, is expected to be € 45 million.

Signed by Benfica to Naples last summer, for 17 million euros, Carlos Vinícius signed until 2024 and was left with a termination clause of 100 million euros.
