The 305 students who entered the Engineering courses in Technological Physics and Aerospace Engineering at the Higher Technical Institute of the University of Lisbon, as well as the Engineering and Industrial Management course, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, obtained a average higher than 19 values. .

According to an analysis by Lusa of the DGES data on the results of the 1st phase of the national competition for access to higher education, these were the courses with the highest average income.

This year, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education allowed a group of institutions to increase their vacancies, since they left out excellent students due to the increasingly high grades to get a place.

The results of the first phase of the National Contest for Access to Higher Education are available on the Internet from 00:01 this Sunday on the website of the General Directorate of Higher Education, and can also be consulted through the ES application Access, available on iOS platforms. and Android.

For example, the Engineering in Technological Physics course at the Higher Technical Institute rose from 69 to 83 places and the Engineering and Industrial Management course at the University of Porto from 75 to 90.

The fourth year with the highest average is Bioengineering, from the University of Porto, where the last student to obtain one of the 77 places in this course obtained an average of 19.10.

With an average higher than 18.5, there are several courses in Medicine and Applied Mathematics, mostly located at the universities of Lisbon and Porto.

Porto concentrates the two institutions where the average access to the career of medicine is highest: in the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar the lowest score was 18.98 values ​​and in the Faculty of Medicine it was 18.85.

The Applied Mathematics and Computing course, from the Instituto Superior Técnico, also appears on this list with the last student to enter an average of 18.83 points.

It appears after the medical course at the University of Minho, with 18.78 points.

The remaining medical courses maintain approximate averages: the course at the University of Coimbra with 18.58, the Nova de Lisboa (18.45), the University of Lisbon (18.33) and Beira Interior (18.32).

This year, 1,548 students were placed in the medical career or basic medical cycles, which represents an increase of 37 placed compared to 2019.

This year, the Ministry of Technology, Science and Higher Education allowed institutions to increase the number of medical courses, but only one did so: the University of the Azores increased six places in the basic cycle.

The last student to enter the course at the Azorean institution, which opened 44 vacancies, had values ​​of 18.25, according to DGES data.

In addition to medical courses, the remaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees with the highest concentration of students with better grades took advantage of the opportunity afforded by mentorship and the increase in vacancies.

17 courses were discussed that left out students with access averages of at least 17 values.

The number of students enrolled in study cycles with a higher concentration of top students increased by approximately 29% over the previous year, from 1,540 to 1,984 students.
