By the end of the year, the first 50 engineers of the 1,200 planned jobs are expected, with the creation of an industrial unit to assemble from the first to the last part, the new ATL-100 aircraft, in Évora.
The recruitment process for engineering graduates is still ongoing, but CEiiA’s team of specialists will be joined by other professionals from DESAER, a Brazilian partner of the Center for Engineering and Product Development, based in Matosinhos, on this project.
The product design phase now gives way to the beginning of the industrialization process of a device to operate in the short-haul market, with a maximum capacity of 19 passengers and a weight of 2.5 tons.
According to Miguel Braga, head of the Aeronautics and Defense area at CEiiA’s direction, the location of the factory will allow the involvement of more than 30 companies related to the sector in the project, which already work in the axis of the Alentejo cities of Ponte de Sor, Beja and Évora, being able to boost the business and create at least 1,200 jobs.

The project, with an initial investment of 20 million euros, will have two sources of funding, public and private, through community funds for the area of science, technology, research and development, and the consortium’s own funds.
The first aircraft fully built in Portugal is expected to be ready to enter the market within five years.
“With this program we want to definitively reinforce what is the national aeronautical center in Évora, with the development of a complete and innovative program that allows us to create a new integrator for Portugal, for the industrialization and operation of new aircraft. generation, ”says Miguel Braga.
Roberto Figueiredo, DESAER shareholder, considers that “this alliance, which adds complementary skills to the aerospace sector in Portugal and Brazil, as well as being an important project of technological innovation and job creation in both countries, is even more relevant. in a context of crisis in the sector caused by the Covid-19 pandemic ”.
The launch of the project, this Friday, in Évora, at the Alentejo Science and Technology Park, was attended by the Minister of Social Cohesion and the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
