CEiiA, which has more than three hundred engineers in Matosinhos designing state-of-the-art products and systems by air, land and sea, and Desaer, a Brazilian company specialized in aeronautical development, will launch this Friday, September 25. in Évora, at the facilities of the PACT engineering center (Parque do Alentejo de Ciência e Tecnologia), the ATL-100 Program.

This program is the result of the “joint venture” between CEiiA and Desaer and aims “to develop and industrialize a new generation light aircraft for a short-haul market, multi-configurable for greater flexibility in passenger logistics. and goods, designed for lower operating costs and greater sustainability, anticipating the evolution towards a carbon neutral platform ”, explains the Portuguese engineering center, in a statement.

The ATL-100 is configured to carry passengers up to 19 people and to carry up to 2.5 tons.

With this program we want to definitively reinforce what is the national aeronautical center in Évora, with the development of a complete and innovative program that allows us to create a new integrator for Portugal, for the industrialization and operation of new aircraft. generation ”, says Miguel Braga, from the CEiiA management.

Roberto Figueiredo, Desaer shareholder, highlights that “this alliance, which adds complementary skills to the aerospace sector in Portugal and Brazil, as well as being an important project of technological innovation and job creation in both countries, is even more relevant. in a context of crisis in the sector caused by the Covid-19 pandemic ”.

This is the first comprehensive aeronautical program covering the development, industrialization and operation of new generation aircraft in Portugal. The official launch of the program will be attended by the Minister of Social Cohesion and the Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education.

With a development schedule of five years, this aeronautical project “includes the participation of more than 30 national and international companies and universities, linked to programs such as MIT”, estimating that the ATL-100 program has a direct impact of 1,200 jobs skilled work in the Alentejo region “.

The attractiveness for Portugal of this program stems from the capacity created in Portugal in recent years in programs such as the KC-390.

Among the dozens of projects that CEiiA has underway, it is worth mentioning, for example, its participation in the KC-390 Program, the largest aircraft developed to date by the Brazilian company Embraer, and having won a contract for the design. and the development of some of the main aerostructures of the first model airplane built by Chinese Guanyi.

Desaer is an aircraft development and manufacturing company, located in São José dos Campos, Brazil.

It was in 2017 that former Embraer and ITA employees founded Desaer to create the ATL “in response to the opportunity to replace the Embraer Bandeirante, a project already presented and validated by the Brazilian Air Force.”
