The Government is considering using a traffic light system to identify the areas with the highest risk of transmission of the coronavirus in Portugal. The idea was shared by António Lacerda Sales on Wednesday night in an interview with “SIC Notícias”.

This reminder system has already been used throughout the summer to access the national beaches. Now, the Secretary of State for Health assumes that the idea of dividing Portugal from municipal contagion maps is being studied, using the colors green, yellow and red, depending on whether the risk of contagion is lower or higher.

Lacerda Sales also revealed that the regions with the highest number of infections by Covid-19 will not be closed, as is the case for example in Madrid, Spain.

In this interview, the Secretary of State for Health also addressed the possibility of wearing a mask on the street. The decision will depend on the epidemiological evolution, as well as the local confinements. “It is not recommended at this time, but I cannot predict what the epidemiological evolution will be. Everything is a possibility in the uncertainty, in the uncertainty of a pandemic, ”he said.

The latest data reveals that Portugal registered more than 802 cases of Covid-19, in a total of 70,465 confirmed cases of Covid-19. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country rose to 1,928, with three deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
