SAD do Aves resigned to participate in the Portuguese Championship (third level of national football), after negotiations with Perafita were aborted to use the facilities of the Matosinhos club.
The player registry was closed until yesterday and, due to the debts of the SAD, no athlete was registered. “Thus, as Aves SAD will not compete this season,” the source of the Vila das Aves emblem told A BOLA, who, questioned as to whether this decision implies the definitive closing of the doors, replied: “We have no idea of the future.”
In the avian plans was the merger with Perafita, club of the 1st District Division of AF Porto, and among the forecasts was the use of the facilities of the Mato Grosso, at least during the preseason, for which Aves had 17 players.
By not being able to register players, SAD do Aves also rejected the request for postponement of the first match in the Portuguese Championship, by not showing up at the Cuna field last Sunday, a situation that according to the regulations will result in a defeat at the secretariat and points.
It should be remembered that, due to successive unpaid wages during the last season and due to the accumulation of debts (the PER from which it benefits allocates debts of 17.1 million euros to 110 creditors), SAD avense, after being relegated to the sport. League 2, was prevented from participating in professional leagues, finishing in the third step.
The Desportivo das Aves (club), chaired by António Freitas, chose to return to box one, registering its senior team in the II District Division of AF Porto.
