The Judicial Police (PJ) detected, during an investigation of Operation Lex, several irregularities in the distribution of cases in the Lisbon Court of Appeals (TRL), reveals the magazine “Saturday” this Wednesday. The authorities showed their perplexity with what was happening in this higher court, taking into account that hundreds of cases had been attributed without drawing to judges other judges in addition to Rui Rangel, Fátima Galante and Luís Vaz das Neves.

According to the final report of said investigation, that the news magazine had access, this assignment occurred only with a verbal order and without any written order. “From the testimonial evidence collected from the employees who, in particular, were involved in the distribution procedure, the information results that the president of the draw – the presiding judge – has the possibility of withdrawing a new automatic distribution process, evaluating it in the moment prior to distribution and expressly determine its manual distribution to the judge who understands it ”, PJ advances, in that document.

For example, in the case of former judges Rui Rangel and Fátima Galante, it is concluded that, between 2010 and 2018, they were assigned 10 and 33 cases, respectively. “It cannot fail to cause some perplexity regarding the magnitude of the figures in question, regarding a procedure that, in addition to being exceptional, did not have to be applied to processes classified ‘L1′”, the PJ also states.
