Portugal registers more than 802 cases and three deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours – O Jornal Economico

Portugal has a total of 70,465 confirmed cases of Covid-19, plus 802 compared to the previous day, reveals the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) published this Wednesday, September 23. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country has risen to 1,928, with three deaths in the last 24 hours.

DGS reveals that there are currently 25,339 cases registered in the North (240 more), 5,760 in the Center (73 more), 36,078 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (437 more), 1,450 in the Algarve (28 more), 257 cases in the Autonomous Region of Azores (three more), 210 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira (two more) and 1,371 cases in Alentejo (another 19).

There are currently 571 hospitalized patients, of which 77 are in Intensive Care Units (ICU) and 46,290 cases recovered in Portugal, 316 more than those registered yesterday. Regarding deaths, of the total of 1,928 deaths, 877 are registered in the North, 257 in the Center, 737 in Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 19 in the Algarve, 15 in the Azores, 23 in the Alentejo. There is no death from Covid-19 in Madeira.

There are currently 31,865 men and 38,600 women infected with the new coronavirus. In terms of deaths there are 975 men and 953 women. 40,765 people are under surveillance, 347 more than yesterday. There are still 22,247 active cases, 483 more than the one seen yesterday.

The age group with the highest number of cases is 30 to 39 years, with 5,516 men and 6,097 women, in a total of 11,613 cases. The highest number of deaths is recorded in 80 years, with 568 men and 718 women, in a total of 1,286 deaths.
