There are 21 more confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Algarve, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS) of this Tuesday, September 22, which has just been published.

At the national level, the number of new infections (463 more) is slightly lower than in previous days.

In cumulative terms since the beginning of the pandemic, the Algarve now has 1,422 cases, while in the entire country there are 69,663.

In neighboring Alentejo, there are now 12 more cases, bringing the cumulative total to 1,352.

Of this national total, 45,974 are already recovered (238 more since yesterday), while 21,764 of the cases are still active (220 more).

In total, 1,925 people have died in the country from complications associated with Covid-19. Since yesterday, there have been 5 more deaths in Portugal. Three of these deaths occurred in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region, while the remaining 2 occurred in the North.

This time, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (198) and North (191) are almost on par with the new cases, dividing the first place in the regions where there were more infections. That is, the first region accounted for 43% of the infections, the second for 41%. It accumulates 35,641 and 25,099 cases, respectively.

It is followed, but with much less expression, the Center (5687, plus 36), Algarve (1422, plus 21), Alentejo (1352, plus 12), Madeira (208, plus 3) and the Azores (254, plus 2) . ).

There was also an increase in the number of people admitted to hospitals throughout the country: 28 more were registered, bringing the total to 546. Of these, 70 are in the intensive care unit (9 more).

In the last 24 hours, there has been a decrease in the number of contacts under surveillance, from 47 to a total of 40,418.
