24 infected in an outbreak in a church in Torres Vedras

An outbreak originating in the Evangelical Christian Church of Torres Vedras, in the Lisbon district, caused 24 cases of contagion by covid-19, this municipality reported this Monday.

In a press release, the Torres Vedras Chamber announced that the outbreak has 24 active cases, of which 18 reside in the municipality, three in Cartaxo and three in Lourinhã.

Of the 18 confirmed cases in Torres Vedras, ten are found in the parish of Santa Maria, São Pedro and Matacães, where the place of religious worship is located, one in Ponte do Rol and another in the Union of Parishes of Carvoeira and Carmões.

In the Lar de Nossa Senhora da Luz, in the parish of A-dos-Cunhados and Maceira, where an outbreak began on August 3, the number of deaths from covid-19 rose to seven, all of them users of the institution, reported this Monday. official fair of the local authority.

Of the 87 cases of contagion between users and employees, 16 remain active, three of them in the hospital, seven died and the rest recovered, according to the epidemiological bulletin released this Monday by the municipality.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Torres Vedras has registered 390 cases of contagion, of which 324 have recovered, 13 have died and 53 are active.

Also according to the bulletin, in the total of the municipality there are 12 suspected cases awaiting laboratory results and 112 contacts under active surveillance by the health authorities.
