A class from Lama’s nursery, in the parish of Alpendorada, Várzea and Torrão, in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses, is in quarantine after one of the nursery teachers tested positive for COVID-19.

The educator, on her own initiative, took the test on Wednesday, September 16, but continued teaching for the next two days. On Friday, the teacher received the indication that she had tested positive.

“Tests were carried out on all children, teachers and employees who were in contact with the positive case. The students are in quarantine,” explains Domingos Neves, president of the parish council, admitting that the situation caused some discomfort in the town. The mayor confided that, however, he had already received the result of “around 50% of the tests carried out.” All negative. We will see the rest, ”he added.

As a preventive measure, during the weekend the school was disinfected and this Monday it reopened “normally” with the second class of the school.

As a result of this case, the mayor says that he will subject the 40 school employees of the extended hours schools under his responsibility to covid-19 tests. “If we had done what I recommend, which is to test all employees and teachers, we would not have gone through this situation,” concludes Domingos Neves.
