Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (KTM) finished fifth in the Emilia Romana and Rimini Riviera Grand Prix in Italy, the seventh race of the MotoGP season, after starting from 15th position.

This is the second best classification in the history of the Portuguese, after the victory in the Styrian GP, in a grand prix in which he ran with discomfort in his right shoulder, after two falls in free practice.

The Portuguese finished 7,368 seconds behind the winner, Spanish Maverick Viñales (Yamaha), who became the sixth different rider to win this season.

In a race marked by many crashes, Spaniards Joan Mir (Suzuki) and Pol Espargaró (KTM) were second and third, respectively. The Spaniard from KTM benefited from a three-second penalty to Fabio Quartararo in the final moments of the race to get on the podium.

In the Drivers’ Championship everything is very close: Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati) is the leader, with 84 points, just one more than Fabio Quartararo and Maverick Viñales, who add up to 83. Miguel Oliveira rose two places and is eighth, with 59 points.
