José Rui Santos is from Albufeira, in the Algarve, and is the responsible producer of the largest pumpkin in the country. This 696 kg fruit was the winner of its category in the 2nd. International Contest of Giant Vegetables, which took place in Paredes.
In second place, also in the category of pumpkins, was Abel Santos, also from Albufeira, with a fruit of 609 kilos, as published on the page of Facebook Yestimes Municipal of Paredes.
Third place went to Manuel Coelho, from Maia, with a pumpkin weighing 374.5 kg.
The most beautiful pumpkin was Jerónimo Sousa, from Paredes.
In other categories, the winners – known this Saturday – were (also) José Rui Santos with the largest watermelon (53.5 kilos) and the largest melon (11 kilos).
This producer is joined by the winner Celeste Coelho, from Paredes, with the largest tomato, 1.06 kg.
