Enough. André Ventura’s list of sunk for the national board

The proposal of the president of Chega, André Ventura, for the national leadership of the party was failed today in the convention that is being held in Évora, as it was unable to gather two-thirds of the votes of the approximately 500 delegates present.

According to Chega’s statutes, the list proposed by Ventura for the national board he needed to get two-thirds of the votes, but he didn’t even get a majority, reaching 183 “yes” and 193 “no.”

In a universe of 510 delegates, 378, 183 “yes”, 193 “no” voted, one white and one null, according to the results announced by the convention table.

Ventura requested the suspension of work to present a new list, which will be put to the vote again.

In accordance with article 3 of the national electoral regulations of the National Populist Party, if the vote of two thirds of the delegates is not obtained “the president-elect of the national leadership must present a new list, within a maximum period of two hours, to the elected delegates to the National Convention, to vote in the shortest time possible ”.

“The National Convention cannot be terminated without the list of national leaders being chosen periodically,” stipulates the same article.
