Portugal registers 552 more cases and 13 deaths from Covid-19 – O Jornal Economico

Since the start of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 68,577 confirmed cases of Covid-19, with 552 more people infected in the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS), published this Sunday. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus in the country increased to 1,912, which corresponds to 13 more deaths than yesterday, according to official information from the national health authority.

The report now counts 45,596 people recovered from this disease, 192 more than the previous day. Of the 511 hospitalized patients (plus 14), 63 (minus one) are in intensive care units (ICU). 39,362 surveillance contacts (minus 26) and 21,069 active cases of contagion remain to be registered, representing a daily increase of 347.

The virus continues to infect more women, as the DGS reports a total of 37,592 confirmed cases in female patients, compared to 30,985 in men. In relation to deaths, more victims are men: 963, against 949 who are women. More than a thousand of the fatal victims (1,275) are over 80 years old.

Today, the northern region registered the highest number of daily cases (871), as well as three deaths, but the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region was the one that registered the highest number of deaths (ten). The autonomous communities reported three more cases of the disease, two in the Azores and one in Madeira.
