The Diocese of Viana do Castelo announced, this Saturday afternoon, that “the farewell” of D. Anacleto Oliveira will take place for two days in that city, with the arrival of the remains of the bishop, who died on Friday, scheduled for Monday for the afternoon.
According to the program broadcast this Saturday, after the reception of the body of D. Anacleto, the Prayer of the Completes will take place at 10.30 pm in the Cathedral of Viana.
On Tuesday, between 9 am and 2 pm, the temple will be open for “free prayer of the faithful (in compliance with the rules of the DGS)”, and at 3 pm there will be a Funeral Celebration. The remains will go to Leiria, birthplace of the Bishop of Viana, where the arrival at the Cathedral of that city is scheduled at 10 in the morning. In the afternoon there will be a Funeral Party, followed by burial in the Cortes cemetery.
The Diocese of Viana do Castelo recognizes “the legitimacy and justice of a farewell to the entire diocesan family”, and reiterates the request that “all expressions of affection be carried out with the greatest serenity and responsibility, so that we can dignify the encouragement that For 10 years, it was the presence of D. Anacleto Oliveira with us ”.
The bishop of Viana died on Friday, aged 74, in a car accident while returning from a vacation in the Algarve.
