According to a source from the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC), the highest number of recorded occurrences were small floods (103), falling trees (31) and falling structures (9).

In the Lisbon district, between 00:00 and 13:00, there were 71 occurrences, with the highest number of cases.

As more significant events, the ANPC source highlights the floods in the city of Setúbal and Beja and “strange phenomena related to the wind” in Palmela (Setúbal district).

This morning, an intense storm hit several areas of the city of Beja, causing the fall of more than 100 trees and damage to vehicles and infrastructure, the source of the fire department told Lusa.

In the municipality of Palmela, a phenomenon of strong winds that occurred on the Estrada do Lau, caused the fall of large trees, EDP poles and damaged two houses.

In the next few hours, the ANPC will pay special attention to the districts of Leiria, Coimbra and Aveiro, where “some occurrences related to strong winds and rainfall may arise.”

“We are monitoring this situation. The adverse weather conditions will continue with strong winds in the mountains and rainfall and will probably cause some damage in more urban areas, ”said the ANPC source.

Thirteen districts of mainland Portugal are now under yellow alert due to wind and rain that can sometimes be strong and accompanied by thunder, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to the IPMA, the districts of Aveiro and Viseu are under yellow warning from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm today due to the forecast of sometimes heavy rains.

The districts of Guarda, Castelo Branco, Coimbra, Leiria, Lisbon, Santarém, Setúbal, Beja and Faro are under yellow warning due to rain (until 18:00 today) and sometimes strong wind with gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour , being up to 85 kilometers per hour (km / h) in the mountains (until 9:00 p.m. today).

The districts of Portalegre and Évora are under yellow alert from 06:00 to 21:00 today due to the strong wind.

The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
