Friedrich Fuelscher, lawyer for the suspect in Maddie McCann’s kidnapping, admitted in an interview with the British newspaper Mirror, that he doesn’t trust Christian Brueckner enough to keep him close to his children.

The lawyer visited Portugal last week, on a secret visit, to investigate all the details of Brueckner’s life. After his investigation, Fuelscher reveals that he would let the suspect in the kidnapping of the British girl walk his dogs, but “I would not trust him to take care of my children or my daughter, if I had one.”

“I could take care of my dogs, yes, but because of the registry I didn’t let him take care of my daughter,” he assumes.

The lawyer was in the Algarve last week to “check the location”.

“I tried to draw my own conclusions about the sources of information that I had, for example, the Portuguese investigation files,” he explains, adding that he intends to reveal new information on the case in the coming weeks.

“I can’t say what it is, but it’s great. It certainly surprised me,” he admitted.

The lawyer also explains that accepting Brueckner as a client has changed his life, he does not sleep as well as before the case and he has already been subjected to threats, some of them death, having filed a complaint after receiving these threats.

Maddie McCann disappeared from the resort where she was with her family in Praia da Luz, Algarve, in 2007. Brueckner is currently in prison, in solitary confinement, in Kiel. The suspect cannot be with the general prison population due to threats from other inmates, given his history with children.
