Algarve with another death from Covid-19 and 15 new cases

There was one more death from Covid-19 and 15 new infections in the Algarve, revealed the General Directorate of Health (DGS) in its epidemiological bulletin this Tuesday, September 15.

With the death reported today, the number of fatalities from the pandemic in the Algarve region stands at 19, according to DGS.

The bulletin does not cover the Algarve municipality where the death occurred, but South Information is already gathering information on the new victim.

As for the number of accumulated cases since the beginning of the pandemic in the Algarve, there are already 1,259.

In Alentejo, there are now 14 new cases, bringing the cumulative total to 1,175.

Nationwide, there was a considerable decrease in the number of people infected with the new coronavirus, compared to previous days, with 425 new cases of Covid-19.

The cumulative total of cases since the beginning of the pandemic in Portugal is now 65,021.

As for people recovered, there were 177 more, which means that 44,362 people overcame the disease in our country.

This means that active cases have grown to 18,784 (244 more than in yesterday’s DGS bulletin).

As for deaths, there are now four in total. In addition to that recorded in the Algarve, there was one death in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and two in the north.

In total, Covid-19 has already caused 1,875 deaths in Portugal.

By region, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo was, once again, the one that had the highest daily increase: 227 new cases, bringing the accumulated figure to 33,297.

It is followed by the North (23,528, plus 117), Center (5330, 51), Algarve (1259, plus 15), Alentejo (1,175, plus 14), Azores (240, plus 1) and Madeira (192, no new) cases ).

The number of people admitted to hospitals throughout the country amounted to 478, one more than in the DGS bulletin yesterday. Of these, 59 are in the intensive care unit (less 2).

There are currently 36,955 people in contact with surveillance, 197 more than yesterday.
