Sony was forced to reduce the number of PlayStation 5 consoles it planned to put in stores by March 31, 2021, when the first fiscal year ends, in which it will list the next console in its accounts.

In July 2020, Bloomberg said that initial production had increased from 5 million to 10 million units, but now its sources are reporting that Sony has reduced that number by about 4 million due to problems in the manufacturing of the PS5 console. .
