The video circulating on social networks is less than two minutes (here we publish an excerpt from that video, edited), but its impact lasts much longer. It begins with a naked woman walking down the road, followed by several men dressed in Mozambican Defense and Security Forces (FDS) uniforms. One of them, with a red backpack on his back, approaches and violently hits her with a stick. The woman screams in pain, tries to protect herself, staggers, the men insist that she keep walking, one of them shoots to scare her. Few steps she can take when hit by a machine gun burst.

The video has been circulating on social media in Mozambique since Monday and has sparked much outrage, even leading the SDS to issue a statement condemning the act committed by “a group of individuals in military uniform.”

“The Defense and Security Forces (FDS) consider the images shocking, abusive, disgusting, horrifying and, above all, reprehensible in all their dimensions,” says the statement, which reaffirms the “commitment of the FDS to the protection of rights human rights “, not to accept the Mozambican military institution” with any act of barbarism that supports the violation of human rights. “
