American left at night with symptoms of Covid-19 and caused an outbreak in Bavaria – Observer

Despite showing symptoms of the infection, a 26-year-old American citizen will have gone out at night to celebrate in the resource Garmisch Alpine. That decision may have been the cause of a coronavirus outbreak in the city.

Local authorities are still defining what kind of sanctions they can apply to women. Local health officials believe, however, that the outbreak occurred after the American woman went through several pubs where it may have infected multiple people.

Local authorities indicate that the woman was already showing symptoms when walking through the bars and waiting for the results of the Covid-19 test, after returning from vacation in Greece. The violation of the confinement measures in Bavaria could cost a fine of 2,000 euros.

However, it is unclear whether the woman was infected on her trip to Greece or in Garmisch, says Stephan Scharf, a spokesman for the German city, quoted in The Local. “Sometimes people don’t wait for the test results,” he continues. To date, 24 people who were at the hotel where the US citizen works have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Not all contacts with the American have yet been identified, so German health officials are asking that anyone who has been to bars in the area should go to the health department’s phone line and get tested. In total, until Saturday 37 new infections were registered, with an incidence of 54 cases in seven days, surpassing the mark of 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in seven days.

Health officials forecast an increase in new Covid-19 cases in the district and on Friday announced the imposition of restrictive measures on the city of 26,000, adding that nightlife should not exist because it was, by the way, what caused the contagion. Restaurants must close at 10 in the morning and only a maximum of five people can meet in public, something that also applies to these establishments. For private events, the number of participants is limited to a maximum of 50 people in closed rooms or up to 100 people outside.
