Portugal with 673 more cases of covid-19 and seven deaths

Portugal today counts seven more deaths related to covid-19 and 673 new cases of infection by the new coronavirus, according to the epidemiological bulletin of the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Portugal has registered 1,867 deaths and 63,983 cases of infection.

The DGS indicates that there were six deaths in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region and another in the northern region.

There are 36,398 contacts under surveillance, another 343 compared to Saturday.

In the last 24 hours there were 14 more hospitalizations and 452 people with COVID-19 admitted to hospitals, while the number of patients in intensive care units is two, out of a total of 57.

In the Lisbon region and the Tagus Valley, where the highest number of infections in the country is registered, 319 new cases were reported, representing 32,732 and 704 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.

Today, the North region has 236 more cases, now a total of 23,233, with 854 deaths.

In the Central region, there were 35 more cases, with 5,228 infections and 254 deaths registered since the start of the pandemic.

In Alentejo, 60 more cases of covid-19 have been registered, for a total of 1,134 cases and 22 deaths so far.

The Algarve region today reported 20 more cases of infection (1,234 cases and 18 deaths since the start of the new coronavirus pandemic).

In the autonomous region of the Azores, two more new cases were registered, totaling 238 infections, 15 deaths since the start of the pandemic.

In Madeira, a new case is registered today, representing 184 infections, with no deaths to date.

In the last 24 hours, 175 patients have recovered, so 44,069 people have already overcome the infection since the start of the pandemic in Portugal.

Confirmed cases are distributed in all age groups, with the highest number of infections between 20 and 59 years.

In total, the new coronavirus has already affected at least 28,894 men and 35,089 women in Portugal, according to reported cases.

Of the total deaths, 941 were men and 926 women.

The highest number of deaths is still concentrated in people over 80 years of age.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed at least 921,097 deaths and more than 28.8 million cases of infection in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.
