The firefighters from Reguengos de Monsaraz transferred five hairpins to the Hospital do Espírito Santo de Évora (HESE), one of them in serious condition and the others with minor injuries, Ciríaco Falé, second commander of the corporation, informed the Lusa agency.

According to the firefighter, the seven remaining injured forcados were treated in the Mestre Batista Bullring, in Reguengos de Monsaraz, and some later went to the hospital by their own means.

The injured are “between 20 and 30 years old at most” and belong to the two groups that participated in the bullfight, Monsaraz and São Manços, he said.

According to the second commander of the Reguengos de Monsaraz Fire Department, the seriously injured person is a trident from the São Manços Group, which suffered “a serious liver injury” after being trapped.

Ciríaco Falé said that the seriously injured person was treated at the scene, including by the doctor and the nurse of the emergency medical vehicle and resuscitation (VMER) of the Évora hospital, and then transferred to the hospital unit.

“The show was interrupted in the fourth run to attend to the wounded and stabilize the seriously injured,” he said, referring to the fact that the confinement ended “at almost 2 am” on Sunday morning.

Contacted by Lusa, a source from the HESE communication office, indicated that six young people between 18 and 33 years old were admitted to the hospital on Saturday night, five of whom had already been discharged.

One of the six forks “was transferred this morning to the Santa María hospital [em Lisboa] in serious condition, “added the same source.
