The president of the RIR – Reacir Include Recycle party, Vitorino Silva, known as Tino de Rans, said this Sunday that he is moving towards a new candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic to overcome the 2016 vote and eventually move to the second round.
In the 2016 presidential elections, Vitorino Silva was also a candidate, registering 152,000 votes.
“A victory is to have one more vote and I want to win that one more,” he declared, in his presentation today in Porto of his candidacy for the 2021 presidential elections.
Vitorino Silva stressed, however, that in “atypical elections” it is possible “not only to go to the Europa League, but also to the Champions League”, understood as the second round of the electoral race in Belém.
In its reading, there are four candidates who can aspire to run for a second round, if the current president of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, applies and has less than 50% of the votes in the first round: SE MEP Marisa Matias, one is former PS MEP Ana Gomes, Chega’s leader, André Ventura, and Tino de Rans himself.
“My candidacy is very strong, made up of simple people where quality prevails,” said Vitorino Silva, a 49-year-old paver who works in the Porto Chamber.
To present his candidacy, Tino de Rans chose the gardens of the Palácio de Cristal, in Porto, more specifically the area adjacent to ‘stand’ 58 of the Porto Book Fair and a “beautiful” cedar, whose trunk – he said – “symbolizes democracy, the branches the candidates, from right to left, and the leaves the voters ”.

The RIR leader reiterated, however, that he would like the election date to be postponed to a time of year with milder temperatures, with the four million older voters in mind.

Six months after the end of the term of the current President of the Republic, there are already eight candidates for the position of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
These are the deputy André Ventura (Chega), the lawyer and founder of the Liberal Initiative Tiago Mayan Gonçalves, the leader of the Republican Democratic Party (PDR), Bruno Fialho, the MEP and BE leader Marisa Matias, former deputy of the European Parliament and PS director Ana Gomes, Vitorino Silva (better known as Tino de Rans), former CDS activist Orlando Cruz and João Ferreira MEP (PCP).
Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, elected in 2016, has not yet revealed whether he will run again, sending a decision “there for November.”
Candidacies for the Presidency of the Republic are only valid after being formally accepted by the Constitutional Court, and after presentation and verification of a minimum of 7,500 and a maximum of 15,000 signatures of voters, up to thirty days before the date of the election, to be done. at the end of January next year.
