Read the full message:

“In Portugal, unfortunately, there is a culture of suspicion and hypocrisy, a mark of our time.

Citizens who hold public office are suspects, whether in politics, sports or even in social solidarity activities. In the vast majority of the time, these episodes embody a society in which sterile debates and depressed performers ensue.

It is not because they are politicians, António Costa and Fernando Medina, that they are prevented from taking a position in the election of their Club. However, they are citizens and in this case Beneficiaries. They should have the freedom to express their opinion and support those who best serve the interests of the Club. They are two partners, among many thousands, of Sport Lisboa and Benfica, in that condition they decided to join the Honorary Committee of Luis Filipe Vieira. Fernando Medina has shown proof of exemption for all clubs in the city. Supporting is not favoring. As governors they have shown it well; Balance and sense of duty towards everyone.

There is a difference between what happened in Porto and the support of António Costa. António Costa does not include any list in the Board of the Club, take into account the number of politicians in the Superior Council of FCPorto. This persecution of Benfica and its President is regrettable and reprehensible ”, it reads.
