Nursery in Portalegre closed after an employee tested positive for covid-19

From yesterday to today, 11 more cases of the disease were registered, thus increasing the number of infected in the municipality to 21.

This Friday a nursery school in the parish of Urra, in Portalegre, ended after an employee tested positive for covid-19.

“The nursery was closed as a precaution and we continue to carry out the maximum tests with the population at this time,” said the municipal president, Adelaide Teixeira, to the Lusa news agency.

The closure occurs on the same day that there was an increase of 11 cases of covid-19 in the municipality. According to the official, there are also about 90 people in detention.

In addition to the 140 tests that were carried out yesterday in the municipality, this Friday more tests are also carried out to identify possible cases of covid-19. Services were also temporarily closed “preventively” in the municipal workshops building.

This Friday, Portugal registered 687 new cases of covid-19, a figure that was only exceeded on April 16, when 750 cases were registered in Portugal. In total, 62,813 cases of the disease have already been registered in the country and 1,855 people have died from complications related to the disease.
