Covid-19: Public officials may have to change hours or work elsewhere

Public officials may be forced to work elsewhere and see their schedules changed due to new rules to avoid contagion by covid-19.

Note from the General Directorate of Public Administration and Employment informs that public administration workers, who are not teleworking, may be required to perform functions, in a different place than usual, when it comes to agency management reasons or service and to ensure the fulfillment of its functions.

In these cases, adds the general management, some criteria must be followed, if possible: the worker must not belong to risk groups or have dependents integrated into risk groups. Greater proximity to the worker’s residence should also be privileged.

Employees may also have to meet rotating schedules, between teleworking and face-to-face work, and the time of entry and exit can also change.

The Common Front warns that the new rules will generate confusion: to TSF, Sebastião Santana said he considered the measures “unacceptable.”

José Abraão, from Fesap, also regrets that there was no negotiation and reveals concern about how these rules will be implemented.
