At least four Cachena, Barrosã and Galega cows were shot last Monday while freely grazing in the streets of Aboim da Nóbrega, in Vila Verde. One of them died and three others were seriously injured, and it is still unknown if they will survive.

The perpetrators of the barbarism are not yet known, but some of the reasons for this massacre are widespread among the local population, who freely observe the passage of cows that graze on private land, river beaches, roadsides and in all and each of the places where there is a barrier. it is not an impediment.

Some of the killed cows were grazed freely on a secondary road from the place of Lameiras, next to the Vade waterfalls. They were hit, probably at night, by a sniper.

Two of them were seen with serious head injuries, but ended up fleeing, still missing.

Another was rescued and will be treated at the owner’s house, while the fourth, which was even inside a properly confined field, ended up falling into a stream and died after being shot.

As far as we know, GNR was on site and is taking steps to investigate the reasons for the cattle slaughter in Vila Verde.

Free grazing of cattle is one of the characteristics of Aboim da Nóbrega and the neighboring town of Gondomar. Cattle are usually released by owners during the day to collect them for court at night. During the summer it is customary to leave the cattle free throughout the week, collecting them on Saturday.
