The Braga City Council will have to pay another 300 thousand euros for the expropriation of land for access to the Nova Arcada shopping center, a value that the local authority “did not count” having to pay.
At the end of today’s chamber session, in statements to journalists, the president of the municipality (PSD / CDS-PP / PPM), Ricardo Río, affirmed that “it is an example of the multiple situations and vicissitudes” that are “facing the executive ”.
As Ricardo Rio explained, “in this specific case, it is about an expropriated landowner in the access that he considers, and he demonstrated, that there was an error in the topographic survey and that this represents an increase of more than 300 thousand euros in what he paid City Hall. the execution of that infrastructure ”.
In addition to the announcement of less than 300 thousand euros in the coffers of the municipality, the executive approved the payment of more than 600 thousand euros for the use of the equipment assembled in the temporary Municipal Market, created to function while the works in the building are being developed from the Municipal Market.
According to the PS, “the amount already paid for the equipment has already compensated for having been bought and not rented,” questioning the majority about whether “any acquisition study was carried out”, since, said Artur Feio, “they are already two million euros in leases and the work is not yet finished ”.
In response, the president of the municipality replied that “the purchase of the equipment was not considered.”
“It was one thing to have made this comparison at the beginning when a year of construction was planned. It doesn’t make sense now, ”he said.
At the end of the meeting, in statements to journalists, the mayor indicated “end of the year” as the date for the completion of the requalification of the Municipal Market.
