Amazon said that as of September 3 it will not allow the distribution of foreign seeds in the United States, after thousands of Americans have received packages of seeds from Asia in the mail.

The multinational had BBC that it will only allow plant advertisements from North American sellers residing in the United States. All foreign ads will be removed and if sellers violate the rule they risk being removed from the online platform.

The seeds have also reached Portugal

The Portuguese Ministry of Agriculture has warned that postal packages of seeds from Asian countries have been sent, which have not been requested, asking that they not be sown or thrown away, but that they be sent to agricultural addresses.

In addition to seeds of various species, the packages may contain soil, dead larvae, or fungal structures.
