If the data from the daily bulletin of the General Directorate of Health had indicated that, from Friday to Saturday, another 480 new cases of Covid-19 had been presented, a figure that has not been so high since the start of deflation in May, now the trend continues, but at more stabilized levels. This Sunday, the DGS daily bulletin with data from Saturday points to an increase of 315 cases of contagion, since since August 25 this figure has not been set below 200 (there were 192 cases that day).

Most of these 315 new cases were registered in the north of the country, where there were 143 more records of infected people, followed by the Lisbon region, where another 124 people were infected in 24 hours. In the Central region, the increase was 19 cases compared to the previous day, in Alentejo it was 21 and in the Algarve only 6. In the Azores there were 2 more cases of infection (remaining with 15 deaths and now with 217 cases of infection) and in Madeira, which still has no fatalities, no further cases have been identified (there are 170 in total).

Since the beginning of the epidemic, the highest concentration of new cases has fluctuated between Lisbon and the north of the country, and in global terms it is the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region that concentrates the highest number of infected (30,963 against 21,797 in the north). Different is the number of deaths that is higher in the north than in Lisbon: in total, 849 people died in the north region and 683 died in the Lisbon region and the Tagus valley.

In any case, the two deaths registered this Sunday were in the Lisbon region. It is recalled that the Lisbon Metropolitan Area has been in a state of contingency due to the largest number of cases, while the rest of the national territory has lowered a degree of readiness and has been put on alert, with less strict rules. However, as of next day 15, as a way to preventively prevent the increased risk of contagion due to the widespread return of children to school and parents to workplaces, and also due to the beginning of autumn / winter, conducive to influenza and the transmission of respiratory viruses, the Government will take a step back and place the whole country at the level of Greater Lisbon, in a state of contingency, and is preparing additional measures to control the epidemic.

After a few days of slightly decreasing, the number of hospitalized patients again has an increasing trend. If on September 3 there were 334 hospitalized patients compared to 337 the day before, as of Friday it was always increasing: on Friday there were 339 hospitalized, on Saturday there were 345 and this Sunday 354, nine more than yesterday.

In intensive care, the trend is similar. Today there are two more than yesterday, and there are currently 43 people hospitalized in intensive care units, in a condition considered more critical.

According to the daily bulletin published by DGS with data from yesterday, as of midnight (and reviewed at 12 noon on Sunday), 160 more people recovered from Covid-19, bringing the total number of patients to 42,953. recovered from illness.
