The Regional Health Authority of Azores detected seven positive cases of covid-19, in the last 24 hours, after carrying out 1,308 analyzes in the two reference laboratories of the archipelago.

Among the new infections is a seven-month-old baby whose parents, residents of the archipelago, had already tested positive after the recent landing and had been isolated from that moment.

According to the daily statement of the Health Authority, on the island of São Miguel, a 34-year-old woman, non-resident and from the mainland, and a 38-year-old man, resident in the Azores, were diagnosed upon arrival. of a connection with Madeira.

A 42-year-old non-resident man was also diagnosed on that island, with a known result after disembarking.

On the island of Terceira, upon arrival a 32-year-old woman and her two children, ages 5 and 9, resident in the region, were diagnosed with an air connection with the mainland.

According to the Health Authority, all the cases “present a stable clinical situation.”

A 31-year-old man identified as a carrier of the covid-19 virus on August 26, in São Miguel, left the region, “bound for the mainland, despite the authorities”, having already taken measures, through the Delegation . Municipal Health, the procedures “with a view to articulating with the respective authorities and judicial processes.”

So far, 236 positive cases have been detected in the region, with 34 positive cases currently active, of which 27 on the island of São Miguel, six on the island of Terceira and one on the island of Pico.

The archipelago registers 16 deaths, all in São Miguel.

The covid-19 pandemic has already claimed at least 875,703 deaths and infected more than 26.6 million people in 196 countries and territories, according to a report by the French agency AFP.

In Portugal 1,838 people died of the approximately 60,000 confirmed as infected, according to the latest bulletin from the Directorate General of Health.
