The body of the man who on August 14 killed his ex-wife and wounded a friend of hers was found one kilometer from the scene of the murder. It was in an advanced state of decomposition, which made it difficult for investigators to carry out judicial inspection.
The area where the murderer was also complicated the task of the inspectors. The fraga where it was located is difficult to access and had gorges four meters high. All vegetation had to be removed to allow inspection and removal of the corpse.
The body was found by residents of Lalim, who, in consultation with the PJ, decided to “hit” the area in search of the man. Like the Vila Real PJ, these neighbors believed that Henrique Carvalho committed suicide not far from the scene of the murder. As soon as they saw it, they called the inspectors who came to the scene and confirmed that it was the body of the man so wanted.
This Saturday, the PJ announced the discovery of the murderer’s body.
“The body of the alleged perpetrator of the homicide that occurred on August 14 in the parish of Lalim, in Lamego, was located today,” the Judicial Police announced this Saturday, through the Vila Real Criminal Investigation Directorate.
The PJ explains that “the evidence gathered by the Judicial Police, up to now, indicates that the person concerned committed suicide shortly after the murder was committed.”
On the 14th, Ana María Melo, 56, was on her way to the sausage factory where she worked when her ex-husband hit her with at least five shots. A 37-year-old friend still received a scratch on his leg and was treated at the hospital. Since then, authorities have searched to find the suspect, Henrique Carvalho, 62, considered dangerous.
