“The evaluation that is done [pelos serviços de segurança da PSP] There are serious and severe risks in relation to the safety of Rui Pinto and hence all these precautions, ”Francisco Teixeira da Mota told reporters.

The police force in the Campus of Justice of Lisbon was reinforced, today, with elements of the Special Police Unit of the PSP, equipped with “shotgun”.

At the entrance of the building where the session was held, a security perimeter was set up and only authorized persons could access the interior.

The journalists, identified and registered on several occasions, were forced to turn off all electronic equipment and leave it at the entrance, either from the room where the trial takes place, or from the auditorium, where the trial is broadcast, to guarantee the presence of more people in the audience.

Entrances and exits during due diligence were also limited to a minimum, and the court took short breaks so that the media could report the events on the street.

At the end of the session, the president of the jury clarified that the limitations established for the interior of the room were decided by the court “in accordance with the recommendations that were given.”

The magistrate admitted reviewing, in future sessions, the prohibition of the use of electronic equipment in the courtroom.

The trial continues on September 15 at the Central Criminal Court in Lisbon. Rui Pinto is accused of 90 crimes, one of which he co-authored with Aníbal Pinto. The lawyer is suspected of mediating Doyen’s extortion attempt. However, he claims that he only negotiated a service contract.
