The dream of the Cofina group, which intended to buy Media Capital, could have ended this Friday, September 4. According to the news published by Expresso, the Spanish company Prisa sold its stake in Media Capital to a block of Portuguese shareholders who join the businessman Mário Ferreira, who already owned 30.22% of the group’s shares.

In total, the group of Portuguese shareholders will have paid 36.85 million euros for 64.47% of Media Capital held by the Spanish group. Among the new owners of the company that owns titles such as TVI, Plural Entretainment and Rádio Comercial are Triun (20%) and the Serrenho family, owner of CIN paintings (10%). A consortium led by IBG – International Business Group will also have an agreement to acquire around 12% of Media Capital. Tony Carreira is associated with this block.

The businessman Luís Guimarães, from the Polopiqué textile group, appears associated with a group of investors with 16%. Cristina Ferreira, TVI’s current entertainment and fiction director, will hold 2.5% of the capital. According to Expresso, Pedro Abrunhosa will also be among the new shareholders.
