Algarve has 18 more cases of Covid-19

The Algarve has 18 new cases of Covid-19, the General Directorate of Health (DGS) has just revealed in its epidemiological bulletin this Thursday, September 3.

This means that the number of accumulated cases since the beginning of the pandemic in the Algarve region now stands at 1,141.

In Alentejo, there are currently only 3 new cases (952 in accumulated numbers), maintaining the trend of the last week of a more controlled increase in the number of people infected by the new coronavirus.

In Portugal, the number of new cases was 418, the second time that the threshold exceeded four hundred in about a week.

Thus, since the beginning of the pandemic, 59,051 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 across the country.

On the other hand, 194 recovered, bringing to 42,427 the total number of people who have already cured the disease.

The DGS also reports 222 additional active cases, increasing the total to 14,795.

Today, two new deaths were also recorded, which means that Covid-19 has already caused 1,829 deaths in Portugal.

By regions, Lisbon and the Tagus Valley and the North are again responsible for the increase in cases, at the national level.

In Lisbon there are 207 more infected (accumulated total 30,145) and in the North there are 177 more (21,302).

Next are the regions of Center (4860, plus 7), Algarve (1141, plus 18), Alentejo (952, plus 3), Azores (2164, plus 2) and Madeira (165, plus 4).

In hospitals across the country, there are now 334 people hospitalized, three fewer than yesterday. In intensive care, 44 people are now hospitalized, three more than yesterday, according to the DGS bulletin.

In terms of surveillance contacts, there are now 34,197,283 more than yesterday.
